Frederic Sánchez Featured Artist Announcement!
Today, we are very proud to welcome Frederic Sanchez to the Di Zhao Flutes artist team! This collaboration has been long in the making and we are thrilled to be able to finally make this announcement.
We first got to know Frederic through his beautiful musical performances and reviews of our DZW wood flute, and through our correspondences we have learned that he is an extraordinarily gifted musician who has built an outstanding career as a principal flutist, chamber musician, and educator.
Frederic perfectly represents the values we look for in an artist: immaculate skill, passionate artistry, and musical integrity. Perhaps most importantly, he has shown a lifelong commitment to musical education through his Online Flute Studio and NOBJ Academy projects, both advancing and giving back to the younger generation and guiding aspiring artists on their first steps into the professional flute world.
We look forward to working with Frederic and eagerly anticipate his many contributions to the world of flute as a member of the Di Zhao Flutes family!
More information about Frederic:

Born in Barcelona, Frederic Sánchez began his musical studies with his father, an amateur flutist.
He started his professional music training with Jaume Cortadellas at the Conservatory of Badalona, graduating in 2005 with the Conservatory’s Honor Award.
In the same year, he entered the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), where he studied with Salvador Martínez (Principal Flute of the Valencia Orchestra) and Vicens Prats (Principal Flute of the Orchestre de Paris).
In 2009, he was admitted to the Hochschule für Musik der Stadt Basel (Switzerland), where he studied with Felix Renggli, earning a Master’s Degree in Performance and Orchestral Studies, followed by a Soloist Master’s Degree (Solistdiplom), completed in 2013.
Frederic Sánchez is Principal Flute of the Neues Orchester Basel, the Swiss Orchestra and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra. He also collaborates regularly with the Kammerorchester Basel, the Chaarts Ensemble and Musique des Lumières.
He has performed with leading orchestras such as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, the Orquestra de Cadaqués, the Sinfonieorchester Basel, among many others.
Chamber music has always played a central role in his career. In 2010, he founded the Azahar Ensemble, a wind quintet that won the ARD International Music Competition in Munich (2014). With this ensemble, he pursued an intensive international concert career for over a decade, touring worldwide and performing in major venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Musikverein Vienna, and the Mozarteum Salzburg.
In 2020, he founded the Komkrei Trio, driven by a desire to explore more deeply what chamber music performance can offer to audiences. The project focuses on applying multidisciplinary approaches and expressive tools from other art forms to the traditional concept of chamber music.
Also in 2020, Frederic founded two pedagogical projects:

- The Online Flute Studio, an educational platform featuring interviews and discussions with leading international flutists, as well as pedagogical content such as video tips, aiming to use the potential of the internet to connect musicians worldwide and share knowledge.
- NOBJ Academy of the Neues Orchester Basel, a project for young musicians at the stage of deciding whether to pursue music professionally, offering them their first orchestral experience. The academy emphasizes performing from memory, with choreography, and collaborates closely with the Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya (JONC).
